How to Print the Crosswind Calculator Form

Crosswind Calculator
Number of forms per printed page:  2
Recommended paper color and weight:   Pastel Green,  20 pound

This form is designed to be printed on both sides of the page, and the flip side should be printed upside down.
This form is a little more difficult to print than other Takeoff Tools forms.

Printing on Both Sides

Let's name the two sides of a sheet of paper Alpha and Bravo.
The Alpha side will have the Crosswind Calculator.
The Bravo side will have Basic VFR Weather Minimums information.

Printing the Alpha side

First read the following section, "Printing from Adobe Reader."

Next, print the Alpha side.
To do that, select the print command in Adobe Reader. The print dialog box will appear.
In the "Print Range" area, click on the "Pages from" radio button.
Enter 1 in the first box, and 1 in the second box - you only want to print the first page.
Click on the OK button to print the first page.

Printing the Bravo side

This is where things get a little tricky.

You must re-insert the page into the printer in such a way that the Bravo side will be upright when the page is flipped over as illustrated in this diagram:
Crosswind flip diagram
When the Alpha side is upright, the Bravo side should also be upright after the page is flipped over as shown.

After you re-insert the page into the printer, print the Bravo side.
To do that, select the print command again in Adobe Reader. The print dialog box will appear.
In the "Print Range" area, click on the "Pages from" radio button.
Enter 2 in the first box, and 2 in the second box - you only want to print the second page.
Click on the OK button to print the second page.

Note: If your printer provides duplexing (printing on both sides), you probably won't need to manually re-insert the page in which case you can print both sides at once. However you must experiment with the setting that determines how the second side is oriented (usually the "flip on long edge" / "flip on short edge" settings).

Printing from Adobe Reader

First try to print without shrinking or scaling the page.
To do that, set "Page Scaling" to None in the Adobe Reader print dialog box.
(The print dialog box is what pops up when you select the print command.)

If part of the form appears to be cut off on the page you print, set "Page Scaling" to Fit to paper.

Cutting the Page

After you print both sides of a page, cut it in half.
Congratulations! Your new Crosswind Calculator forms are ready to use.
